Water and electricity mix well
10 02 2007It seems that in every other country, if you want hot water you put an electric box in the shower that heats your water on demand. We were excited to see such a contraption here in Fortaleza since neither of us has had a hot shower in weeks. The heater definitely worked! As Steve put it, the water was either summer or inferno! We thought we might be able to lessen the intense heat by increasing the water flow. However, when I touched the metal knob to adjust the pressure, it seemed to vibrate. After a couple of attempts I realized I was getting shocked! Being wet, I was a nice conductor of electricity, and apparently, the electric heater was grounded through the plumbing. Safety third. Mom, you would love it here!

We had a “game night” last night. Dainne told us about your website, so I have been checking it out this morning. Very nice, looks like you guys are having the adventure of a lifetime. Live it up! Thanks for the Christmas gifts to charity, very appropriate.

Hey guys,
I keep forgetting to check back as often as I would like. It sounds like you are having such a wonderful time. Matt and I are trying to get a webpage up and running and have been talked into taking on our own site. Wish us luck we don’t know anything.
Matt has quit his job now, and we are working on helping out my mother with lots of little things before we leave for China in 8 days. I’ll keep chcking on your progress.
Out, Marian
Marian - buen viaje! If you keep me posted, perhaps we can hook up in Asia…
Larry - glad you like it! I plan to post a page at some point that can serve as a “how-to” guide for using the electric hot shower.
